What could possibly be better than the Porsche 918 Spyder?
How about a 918 with 612 horsepower, 500 pound-feet of torque... and up to about 67 miles traveled per gallon of gasoline? Oh yes. A hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder has been released upon the world.
We were particularly touched by this Top Gear presenter's words about Porsche "using hybrid technology to save the supercar for tomorrow", because it makes a lot of sense. With consumers moving more and more toward hybrid, electric, and other fuel-efficient vehicles, sports cars are feeling the pinch to hop on the efficiency train. And maybe that's not a bad thing, if they can produce vehicles like this baby!
Now sadly, only 918 of this hybrid model were made, and the last one was snatched up this month. However, this opens a whole new set of doors for the Porsche line-up!
